PERISHABLE FRAGMENTS / FRAMMENTI DEPERIBILE
My sculptures begin as fragments of the body made in unfired clay: hands, feet, finger tips. Once placed into the environment the sculptures will erode in the rain, be picked up by people and taken away, be protected or further fragmented. The raw clay is susceptible to damage and will function to speed up time, to allow us to see the whole life of the sculpture, and to show how the actions of the natural world continue to sculpt these objects as they sculpt the landscape.
Le mie sculture sono all’inizio frammenti del corpo, fatti di argilla non cotta: mani, piedi, dita. Quando li colloco nell'ambiente, comincia l'erosione della pioggia, e forse anche le persone portano via le sculture. Le sculture diventano frammenti più piccoli o si conservano. L'argilla non cotta è fragile, e funzionerà come acceleratore, permettendoci di osservare l’intera vita delle sculture e ci mostra come le azioni del mondo naturale continuano a scolpire questi oggetti così come essi scolpiscono il paesaggio.
